
Joshua Wales is a writer and physician. His prose and poetry have been published in Best Canadian Stories 2021, adda, Grain, The New Quarterly, Contemporary Verse 2, The New England Journal of Medicine, The Globe and Mail, and elsewhere. His work was recently anthologized in The Care We Dream Of: Liberatory and Transformative Approaches to LGBTQ + Health, published by Arsenal Pulp Press.
He was a silver winner at the 2021 National Magazine Awards, a finalist for American Short Fiction‘s Halifax Ranch Fiction Prize, shortlisted for the 2021 Commonwealth Short Story Prize, and a finalist for the 2021 RBC Bronwen Wallace Award for Emerging Writers from the Writers’ Trust of Canada. He won The New Quarterly’s Peter Hinchcliffe Short Story Award in 2020, and his work has also been shortlisted for prizes from PRISM International, The Malahat Review, and CV2.
